UPA is the professional organization that groups, represents and defends the interests of professionals in agriculture and livestock in Spain. UPA is the organization that brings together the majority of the agrarian sector: family farms whose owners are small and medium farmers and ranchers. UPA is integrated into the structure of self-employed workers of the General Union of Workers (UGT). The Union of Small Farmers and Ranchers has more than 80,000 members throughout Spain: professional farmers and ranchers from all sectors and in all the autonomous communities, which have in UPA the organization that represents them at all levels and provides services demanded by farms. UPA is part of the Economic and Social Council (CES) and participates in all regional or national forums for dialogue and representation in Spain. Likewise, UPA is a member of the Committee of Professional Agricultural Organizations of the European Union (COPA) - in which all the actions framed in the Common Agricultural Policy are debated and the corresponding proposals are made to the European Commission and the Council of Ministers of the European Union-; It is present in the Economic and Social Committee (CES) of the EU and is the first Spanish agrarian organization member of the World Organization of Farmers (WFO).
