The mission of research and innovation activities is to systematically develop new knowledge and its use for sustainable development, improving the quality of life and the well-being of all. By 2030, Slovenia will develop into a successful knowledge-based and innovation-based society and is ranked in the top ten countries on the scale of the European Innovation Index. The scientific research and innovation system will be firmly integrated into the European Research Area, which will actively co-create and involve all stakeholders in a system that responds to societal challenges. The reputation and attractiveness of the profession of researchers will increase, and by investing in advanced and internationally competitive research infrastructure, Slovenia will become an attractive destination for foreign researchers. In Slovenia, we will research and integrate innovation into all sectoral policies in a coordinated manner, thus bringing research into innovation at the heart of development policies. In the period up to 2030, we will use research in three broad areas, within which research will be supported, addressing a key issue in different areas: - the development of high-performance computing and its use through integration into development flows in the EU and globally; - knowledge for the quality of life and health of all generations; - the challenges of energy, including resources and storage, and the associated transition to a circular economy and a sustainable society.
