Summary: 

The "Nitrates" Directive related to protection of waters against pollution caused by nitrates from agricultural sources, also known as the "Nitrates Directive", is one of the instruments of the European Union Policy for the protection of water, as an essential natural resource for sustainable development and was transposed to the domestic legal order by this Decree-Law No. 235/97.
