While it is unknown when the next threat will arrive or what it will be, health systems and decision-makers can seize this COVID-19 moment as an opportunity to highlight the complex interactions among humans, animals, plants, and the environment and to reorient our systems to be better prepared for the next complex One Health challenge that we will inevitably face.
