Description:
Food Sustainability focuses on the challenge posed by new products and food requirements, the bio-economy, natural resources, agriculture and environment.
The pathway trains highly specialised technicians who can contribute significantly to the sustainable management of the food supply chain by possessing specific skills to
- know and assess the relationship between food and human health
- improve the safety and quality of food, its traceability, authenticity and sustainability, to protect citizens and the sustainability of production
- monitor and describe productive environmental realities, identifying methods for territorial enhancement and resource optimisation
- manage environmental certification processes of the supply chain
- promote and monitor both the adoption of good practices defined in agri-food measures and innovations aimed at mitigating the effects of climate change
- collaborate in the management of renewable agro-energy processes.
In line with the objectives of the European Green Deal, the course adopts the 'Producer to Consumer' principle to help achieve a circular economy and pursue the goal of reducing the environmental impact of the food processing and retail sectors by taking action on transport, storage, packaging and food waste.
