While the Empowering Consumers Legislation contains general rules around preventing misleading sustainability B2C claims, this legislation will deal specifically (lex specialis) with claims relating to environmental sustainability claims of products and companies in B2B and B2C setting. This includes claims relating to 16 impact categories but also other impacts such as durability, biodiversity, or microplastics At the same time, requirements of this Directive will not apply to areas regulated by the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, the Organics Regulation, nor to provision of green loans.
