This public education and training institution had its origin more than 50 years ago with the Technical Section of the Technical School of Régua, teaching agricultural courses that gave the 9th grade of schooling to its trainees. After being integrated into the public education network as a Secondary School, the Institution became autonomous, losing the designation of Agricultural Section of the Technical School of Régua. As a result of the reform of secondary education carried out in the early 90s, Agricultural Education in secondary schools was extinguished and the creation of Vocational Education at the national level began. In this sequence, in 1992, the then Rodo Secondary School was the promoter of the Rodo Agricultural Professional School, today called the Rodo Professional School for Rural Development.
