Circular Entrepreneurship: Co-creating the circular economy

In this course we depart from the concept of Cradle to cradle (C2C) to develop a critical and interdisciplinary evaluation of sustainable solutions to design products, businesses and systems. In so doing we move from a product design to a system thinking approach, discussing how to transition into a circular economy. The course introduces students to: - principles of C2C design; C2C as a certification and innovation process; - circular business modelling for the implementation of C2C at project, organisation and system level; - elements for facilitating transition into Circular Economy: - personal development in the context of this transition: which skills are needed for circular leadership and entrepreneurship. This course is also part of the Wageningen University Master Track Entrepreneurship. For more information see the Master Track Entrepreneurship webpage. After successful completion of this course students are expected to be able to: - identify circular economy guiding principles and DISTINGUISH them from linear economy principles; - apply circular economy principles to concrete business cases; - critically analyze relevant issues in order to develop a circular enterprise hereby selecting the most appropriate business modelling tools; - evaluate the analysis and use of selected tools; - assess your own skills needed to contribute to transitioning to a circular economy; - create an innovative enterprise in your area of interest that fits in the circular economy. Activities: - lectures; - guest lectures; - tutorials; - group assignments.
